    The Bob Stewart Award is presented annually to the defenseman who demonstrates the greatest all-around ability in his position.

    History

    Bob Harold Stewart was a 6-1 206lbs defenceman drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 1st round (13th overall) of the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft. He spent the next season with the CHL's Oklahoma team before making a brief eight game NHL debut with the Bruins in the 1971-72 season.

    That same year saw Stewart traded to the California Golden Seals and would play for them for the next four seasons until they moved to Cleveland where they became they Barons. Stewart was then claimed by Minnesota in the 1978 dispersal draft and was traded to the Blues the same day.

    During his second season in St. Louis, Stewart was dealt one last time to the Penguins where he finished the year and hung up his skates for good.

    Stewart played 575 games over 9 NHL seasons, scoring 27 goals and adding 101 assists for 128 career points. The leader in all categories among Island born defenceman.
