KENSINGTON - The Kensington Club/Clark Insurance Granites held on to first-place in the Easy-Stow Senior Hockey League on Wednesday night.
The Granites outscored the Tignish Aces 8 - 5 at Community Gardens while the Maroons doubled the Elmsdale Corner Gas Regals 6 - 3 in Alberton. The Maroons (17-5-0) trail the Granites (17-4-1) by one point.
Jasun Campbell scored three goals and added two assists to lead the Granites. Dale Dickieson (2), Ronnie Pineau (1-4), Andrew Hayes (1-4) and Johnathan Doiron rounded out Kensington's scoring. Craig Warrick, Kirk Johnson, Darren Gallant, Steven Barlow and Kirk MacPhee chipped in with single helpers.
Davy Callaghan (3-1), Jeff Keough (1-1) and Aldon Gaudet answered for the Aces (9-14-0), who received single helpers from Trevor Kinch and Jason Gaudet.
The score was knotted up 3 - 3 after one period and the Granites led 5 - 4 following 40 minutes.
Overall, the Granites outshot the Aces 42 - 36. Winning goaltender was Tim MacPhee and Troy Ellsworth took the loss.
Referee Thane Arsenault assessed 15 of the game's 25 minor penalties against Tignish.
Each team picked up one fighting major and two game misconducts.
