KENSINGTON - Andrew Hayes scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Kensington Club/Clark Insurance Granites past the Tyne Valley Tornadoes Wednesday night.
The final score of the Easy-Stow Senior Hockey League game, played before 200 fans at Community Gardens, was 5 - 1.
Kirk MacPhee (1-1), Kirk Johnson (1-1) and Jonathan Cameron rounded out Kensington's scoring. Jasun Campbell (2), Trevor Whelan and Marc Halbot added helpers.
Matt Yeo, assisted by Tylan Robinson, netted Tyne Valley's lone marker.
The first period ended in a 1 - 1 tie and the Granites took a 2 - 1 advantage into the second intermission.
Overall, the Granites outshot the Tornadoes 40 - 34.
Winning goaltender was Tim MacPhee and Nick Heer suffered the loss.
Referee Richard Johnson called eight minors, one fighting major, one match penalty and two game misconducts against Tyne Valley. Kensington was whistled for two minors, one fighting majors and one game misconduct.
