KENSINGTON - The Kensington Club/Clark Insurance Granites have announced the signing of defenceman John Murphy for the remainder of the 08/09 Easy-Stow Senior Hockey League season.
Murphy is expected to make his 08/09 Granites debut tonight, when the Tyne Valley Tornadoes visit Community Gardens. game time is set for 8:00p.m.
"We are extremely pleased to add a player of this caliber," said Granites head coach Todd Richard. "His leadership and toughness, as well as the experience he will bring, will no doubt add to our team."
"He is a fan favorite wherever he plays, and fans in Kensington will be no different."
The Granites, enter Wednesday's game coming off a 4 - 1 win over O'Leary on Sunday night, and will be looking to grab a share of first place with a win.
The Tornadoes scored the winning goal with 40 seconds left in the third to defeat the Granites 5 - 4 in Tyne Valley last Friday night.
