TYNE VALLEY -- The home team turned out to be the victors in a hard-fought match between the Tyne Valley Tornadoes and the Evangeline Flyers recenty.
The Tornadoes edged past the Flyers 4-3 on Colin Arsenaults second goal of the game and the only marker of the third period. It was the season-opening game for both teams in the 2008/09 Easy-Stow Senior Hockey League season.
Kyle Sark (1-1) and Trevor Hernwood scored Tyne Valley's other goals. Colin MacArthur assisted on two of the Tornadoes' goals while Wayne Biggar and Ian Postma recorded the other helpers.
Chris Johnston (2-1) and Gilles Barriault replied for the Flyers. Ghislain Bernard and Pat MacLellan contributed assists.
The Tornadoes led 2-1 going into the second period and the score was all tied 3-3 heading into the final stanza.
Nick Heer was the winning goaltender, stopping 34 of 37 shots.
